Dr Fiona Britten

Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital and Northlakes Community Diabetes Service

Dr Fiona Britten is a Senior Staff Obstetric Medicine Physician and Endocrinologist at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Redcliffe Hospital and Northlakes Community Diabetes Service, and is also a senior lecturer at the Greater Brisbane University of Clinical School.

She has a strong interest in managing pregestational diabetes in pregnancy and is co-chair of the Queensland Health Diabetes in Pregnancy Working Group. She has recently completed a PhD focused on breastfeeding in women with type two diabetes and is passionate about supporting women’s autonomy, whilst providing safe care to women with complex medical problems in pregnancy. She is also a longstanding member of Queensland Maternal and Perinatal Quality Council Maternal Mortality Subcommittee.

She has published a number of papers in the area of diabetes in pregnancy and obstetric endocrinology and has a keen interest in teaching.  She previously worked as a medical school course coordinator at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital teaching and continues to enjoy teaching medical students and trainees.
