Dr Georgia Kafer is a Senior Lecturer and reproductive physiologist at the University of the Sunshine Coast. Her research focuses on maternal and fetal health, spanning basic, clinical, and public health research. Her work seeks to understand the biological mechanisms underpinning maternal and fetal health while identifying practical solutions to improve pregnancy outcomes and population health. Her research integrates advanced human stem cell-derived placental models, clinical investigations of placental health and disease, and population health approaches to address challenges in the promotion of good maternal and fetal health in Australia and the Pacific region. Dr Kafer’s research is supported by national funding bodies and published in leading international journals, with a strong focus on delivering real-world impact.
