A/Prof Rachael Nugent

Associate Professor Rachael Nugent is a specialist obstetrician and gynaecologist, Senior Medical Officer for the Sunshine Coast Health Service, and an adjunct Associate Professor at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She served as the Clinical Lead for the development and implementation of the recent Queensland Clinical Guideline: Women living in larger bodies and post bariatric surgery. She is the lead investigator on the OptiMis-IO clinical trial, spearheading innovative research into low-dose oral misoprostol for outpatient induction of labour. A/Prof Nugent’s primary research and advocacy interests centre on the diagnosis and treatment of maternal sleep apnoea, weight-inclusive care, and embracing consumer-centric trial frameworks. Her work focuses on optimising the clinician interface to move past one-size-fits-all medicine and deliver precision, patient-centred therapies that meet women where they are.
